Sejery: they’re pushing the Supreme Commission for Negotiations to accept Assad.

The head of the political office of al-Mutassim Brigade, which affiliates to the Syrian opposition, Mustafa Sejery, revealed that the supreme Commission for negotiations was under great pressure from regional and international parties.

He said in a series of tweets that the parties “want the supreme Commission to accept Assad’s survival during the transitional period by introducing pro-Assad platforms backed by Moscow to the Supreme Commission claiming political realism.”

The opposition politician pointed out that the Commission: «did not make any concession and did not accept to be a partner in a crime that is prepared for us and for our revolution, and with the support of those who are claiming the friendship of the Syrian people».


CIA to publish documents revealing Iran's relations with al-Qaeda.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo said that the CIA will soon publish documents revealing Iran’s work with al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.

Pompeo described the connection between Iran and al-Qaeda as an “open secret”.

“It’s an open secret and not classified information that there have been relationships, there are connections,” Pompeo said during an event held by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies on Thursday in Washington DC. “There have been times the Iranians have worked alongside al-Qaeda.”

Pompeo added that they have cut deals so as not to come after each other. He said that the intelligence community is still monitoring those ties, especially given the complexity of the situation in Syria.


"Hezbollah": the major battle is in Idlib after Deir al-Zour.

A source close to the Hezbollah militia said that the latter is carrying out an additional mission in Syria, after completing his battles with the support of the Assad regime and the Iranian militia against the state organization in the province of Deir al- Zour, with Russian air support.

The source added, according to the site “al-Nashra”, That Hezbollah will work after Deir al- Zour to establish what he called “victory” and protect it, and to confront any sudden operation in Syria.

The source confirmed that Hezbollah will go after two or three weeks to the province of Idlib in northern Syria, which entered the agreement of de-escalation, which was approved at the meeting of Astana 6, between “Russia, Turkey and Iran.”


senator: US admitting that terrorists use chemical weapons vindicates Damascus.

Washington’s acknowledgement that terrorists use chemical weapons in Idlib is vital as it exonerates Syrian authorities, senior Russian legislator Frantz Klintsevich told reporters on Friday.

Earlier, Western states repeatedly accused Damascus of using chemical weapons, even against civilians in Syria. The US State Department has admitted for the first time that Jabhat al-Nusra (terror group, outlawed in Russia) terrorists not only possess chemical weapons, but also use them in the Idlib province.

“Certainly, the mere fact that the United States has finally acknowledged that terrorists in Syria use chemical weapons, something we already said a long time ago, is very important. It is imperative first of all in psychological terms. I think this will clear the current Syrian authorities of any last suspicions,” said Frantz Klintsevich, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council’s Committee for Defense and Security.

The Israeli Minister of defense, Avigdor Liberman said on Thursday during his visit to the U.S. that the west and U.S. are facing challenges in the Middle East including Iran. He said “The Western world, headed by the United States, faces heavy challenges in the Middle East, including Iran’s continuing attempts to expand its nuclear program in the region and in Syria,”


Syrian Academic: Raqqa Cannot Be Re-Established At The Moment.

Dr. Abdullah Saghir, Executive Director of the Syrian Engineers Organization for Reconstruction and Development, revealed that it is not possible to start rebuilding the city of Al-Rigga at the moment.

Saghir Told Qasioun News Agency that the reconstruction phase «need political stability, and the political government recognized globally», pointing out that the fate of the city of Raqqa is still unknown at the moment.

Saghir pointed out that the word “re-construction” is a wide word, no country of side can claim the responsibility of re-establishment, because what is happening in Raqqa shows non-stability in politics.


Raqqa to be part of decentralized Syria, U.S.-backed SDF says.

The Syrian city of Raqqa and surrounding province will be part of a decentralised federal Syria, the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia that captured the city from Islamic State (IS) said on Friday.

“We pledge to protect the borders of the province against all external threats, and we confirm that the future of Raqqa province will be determined by its people within the framework of a decentralised, federal democratic Syria in which the people of the province will run their own affairs,” the SDF said in a statement formally declaring Raqqa’s capture from IS.


Russia's Putin says defeat of terror in Syria imminent.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday he had all grounds to believe that Moscow, along with Damascus, would soon defeat terrorists in Syria.

He said that the Syrian peace process was developing in a positive way, though there were still problems. He said there was a proposal to hold a Congress of Syrian peoples, bringing together representatives of all ethnic groups in Syria.


Raqqa Governorate Council demands the departure of the Kurdistan Workers' Party militia.

The Syrian government-led Raqqa Governorate Council called on the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) in the city of Raqqa to leave and hand the city over to its locals and establish a police force to control security.


Few kilometers separate the Syrian regime from the largest oil field in Syria.

The Syrian regime came close to capture the largest oil field in Syria after controlling the town of Thiban in rural areas of Deir al-Zour province.

Syrian forces took control of Thiban, located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River on Thursday after clashes with the “Islamic State” organization (IS), to become less than 3 km from the “AlOmer” oil field , the largest fields in Syria, field sources reported.

Yesterday, more than 20 civilians died in the bombing of a warplane believed to be Russian on a waterway in the town of Al-Bagouz in the city of al-BuKamal.


Baqeri: We resume supporting Assad and warn Israel against penetrating Syria's airspace.

The head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran, Major General Mohammad Hussein Baqeri said that his country continues to support Bashar al-Assad and his regime, warning at the same time that Israel to violate the Syrian airspace.

According to Iranian media sources, Baqeri confirmed that Tehran continues to support the Syrian regime, stressing the need to strengthen joint military cooperation to counter terrorism and extremism.

During his visit to Damascus, Baqeri warned Israel not to penetrate Syrian airspace or Syrian territory.


A Chechen delegation arrives in Syria to discuss the fate of the Chechen prisoners held by YPG militia.

A delegation from the Chechen state arrived in Syrian territory on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Commissioner of the Chechen President and member of the Council of the Russian Federation, Ziad Sbsbi, sources reported.


After Raqqa, the U.S. sees Russia, Assad looming over remaining Syrian battlefield.

Rapid advances by Russian- and Iranian-backed government forces in eastern Syria are thwarting the U.S. military’s hopes of pressing deeper into Islamic State territory after winning the battle for Raqqa.  An expansion of territory held by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad is also likely to provide Assad with additional leverage in political negotiations over Syria’s future, talks the United Nations hopes to reconvene next month.  In a statement this week, U.N. Secretary General António Guterres said the “latest developments” in Syria pointed “to the urgent need to reinvigorate the political process.”


State Department admits Al-Nusra affiliate using chemical weapons in Syria.

The US Department of State admitted that militants linked to Al-Nusra Front are carrying out terrorist attacks using chemical weapons in Syria. Russia’s defense ministry says it’s the first admission of its kind.

The assertion was made in the latest Syria travel warning issued by the State Department on Wednesday. It also mentions Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL].

“Terrorist and other violent extremist groups including ISIS and Al-Qaeda linked Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham [dominated by Al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat Al-Nusra, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization], operate in Syria,” the travel warning reads.

“Tactics of ISIS, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, and other violent extremist groups include the use of suicide bombers, kidnapping, small and heavy arms, improvised explosive devices, and chemical weapons,” it said.


Putin Outlines his Vision for Syria Solution.

Moscow, Raqqa- Russian President Vladimir Putin uncovered on Thursday his vision regarding a political solution in Syria, proposing a congress bringing together representatives of all ethnic groups in Syria following the establishment of de-escalation zones.

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club held in Sochi Thursday, Putin said: “There is an initiative to set up a congress of the Syrian peoples, involving all the ethnic and religious groups, as well as the government and opposition.”

Assad discusses military cooperation with visiting Iranian general.

Syrian President Bashar Assad met Thursday with a visiting Iranian army commander to discuss military cooperation between the two countries in the ongoing civil war raging in Syria as well as across the region, according to the SANA state news agency.

Assad’s meeting with Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri focused on bilateral relations in all fields, mainly military cooperation, “which has witnessed a qualitative development during the war that Syria and its allies, mainly Iran, are waging against terrorism” in Syria, SANA reported.


Is America Now Fighting on the Side of the Terrorists in Syria?

Thre are two international coalitions fighting against terrorist organisations in Syria and Iraq. One of them consists of Russia, Turkey and Iran, and the other one is made of a variety of actors under the leadership of the United States.

Technically, the two coalitions pursue at least one common goal: the destruction of the Islamic State terrorist organisation (banned in Russia). Like Russia, the USA considers the destruction of the terrorist organisation its first priority goal in Syria and Iraq, and Donald Trump outlined this goal clearly in the very beginning of his presidency.


Kremlin: Syria peoples' congress being "actively discussed".

A proposal to convene a congress of all Syria’s ethnic groups is a joint initiative which is being promoted by Russia and others and is now being actively discussed, the Kremlin said on Friday.

It is premature, however, to discuss the time and venue for the congress, which is seen as a mechanism to assist Syria’s post-war development, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a conference call with reporters.

Putin mentioned the idea of holding such a congress at a forum with foreign scholars on Thursday.
