An inquiry by the global chemical weapons watchdog found sarin was used in a March attack in Syria on an opposition-held town, just days before the banned nerve agent killed dozens in a separate attack nearby, sources told Reuters on Wednesday. The March 30 air strike in the northern Syrian town of Latamneh injured around 70 people who suffered nausea, foaming at the mouth and muscle spasms.
Russia says IS attacks in Syria come from location near U.S. forces.
A spokesman for Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Wednesday that a series of attacks launched by Islamic State in Syria on government forces had come from an area near the border with Jordan where a U.S. military mission was located.
The spokesman, Major-General Igor Konashenkov, said in a statement the attackers had the precise coordinates of the Syrian government forces, which could only have been obtained through aerial reconnaissance.
Syrian opposition says Russian jets kill civilians fleeing across Euphrates.
Military jets believed to be Russian killed at least 60 civilians trying to flee heavy fighting in the oil rich Deir al Zor province of Syria when their small boats were targeted as they sought to cross the Euphrates River, opposition activists, former residents and a war monitor said late on Wednesday.
They said the jets targeted makeshift rubber dinghies and boats carrying dozens of families fleeing the town of al Ashara along the western banks of the Euphrates that lies south of Deir al Zor city, the provincial capital.
Rights Group: 33 Detainees Died Under Torture in Assad’s Prisons in September 2017.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said that it had documented the death of 34 detainees under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime in September 2017. The victims included a university student and two women.
In a report released on Tuesday, the Network said that 195 people had died under torture in Syria since the beginning of 2017, including 33 who died in the Assad regime’s custody in July alone and one in the prisons of Hay’at Tahrir Alsham militant group.
Around 400,000 People Flee Deir Ezzor in Past Month as Fighting Heats Up.
Up to 380,000 people have fled their towns and villages in Deir Ezzor due to the intensifying aerial bombardment and battles between the Russian-backed Assad regime forces and ISIS as well as between ISIS and the US-backed militias of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Omar Abu Laila, director of Deir Ezzor 24 media campaign told Smart News Network that “over 180,000 people, mostly children and women, fled their homes in the ISIS-held areas in Deir Ezzor to areas under the control of SDF militias in the provinces of Raqqa and Hassaka in the month of September alone.”
Russia & Iran Dominate Assad Regime's Institutions & are Partners in its Crimes.
Officials in the Syrian Coalition said that Russia and Iran completely dominate the Assad regime and its institutions, adding that Russian and Iran are partners in the war crimes being committed against the Syrian people.
The Coalition officials made these remarks during a teleconference with leaders in the town of Dumair the Qalamoun area on Wednesday.
“Haitham al-Maleh, head of the Coalition’s legal committee, said that they are documenting and collecting evidence about all crimes being committed by the Assad regime, Russia and Iran against the Syrian people.” He added that the Coalition regularly addresses the United Nations and the UN Security Council to use these crimes in evidence at the ongoing investigations and to ensure that those responsible are held to account.
Moscow wants US to coordinate actions with Syrian army, Russian air group.
Russia would like the United States and the anti-terrorist coalition it leads to coordinate its actions in Syria with the government army and Russia’s aerospace group, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday at an international conference of heads of secret and security services and law enforcement agencies.
“We would like the United States and the coalition it leads to feel free to coordinate its operations with the Syrian army and the Russian aerospace group,” he said. “Also, it is necessary to ensure the coalition should fight not only against the Islamic State, but also against Jabhat al-Nusra, which for some reason remained untouchable back under the Obama administration”.
ISIS wants to create ‘new global terrorist network’ – Russia’s FSB chief.
The leftovers of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) could try to form a new terrorist network after its eventual defeat in the Middle East, Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Aleksandr Bortnikov warns. The terrorists have been “almost defeated while attempting to build their caliphate in Iraq and Syria,” he noted.
Yet, “the leaders of IS and other international terrorist groups have defined their global strategic objective as the creation of a new, worldwide terrorist network,” Bortnikov stated at a meeting of security services and law enforcement agencies from Russia and 73 other countries in the Russian city of Krasnodar.

The Pentagon has denied that the US-led coalition is working with Daesh terrorists in Syria in the wake of the statement by the Russian Defense Ministry that said that Washington’s support for terrorists is the main obstacle to the complete elimination of terrorists in the war-ravaged nation.
